Hello, it's the last day of 2016 and thus i decided to spend today cleaning my room/my closet/sorting dubai photos because my mum wants to make it into an album and print the photos and also, i decided to blog too :-)
2016 was a blessing in every way, i'm sincerely thankful for everyone in my life this year, even if it's someone i no longer talk to...... but i am so thankful to have everyone by my side :')
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
VLOG LINK
so the only reason why i did a vlog is because last semester, i bought a $70++(?) video editing software because i did my project video using that software's FREE TRAIL but me being stupid, i didn't realise that there's a damn huge watermark when i save it and i can't get rid of it unless i pay for membership lol and so.......... i was lazy to redo............ AND I BOUGHT IT :-) so in order to make full use of it, i decided to do this vlog (AND I DIDN'T EVEN DO WELL FOR THAT PROJECT HAHAHAHA), this will probably be my first and last video because my membership is ending and i am far too lazy to film anything else
so on why i decided to go to dubai...............i have to admit 90% was due to running man HAHAHAH, it looked damn pretty on the running man episode so i asked my dad and he said ok since he left me with a budget to plan a trip this year (& i only used 75% of the budget). but................. i knew dubai was going to be expensive but i never knew that i will ever be so shocked when i saw the prices of literally everything lol the average price of food at the food court is $17 sgd (macs are average at around $13 sgd i think) and tbh the food there aren't even that good.
anyways, i took SQ (i bought the tickets during april which is 8 months before the trip HAHAHAHHA and i regretted 2 months ago because the prices went down by a bit and emirates went from $1k to $900++ to $600++ :') ) my last SQ experience to Rome and from Paris was quite jialat, when i went to Rome, the entertainment system on the B777-200 was useless, there was barely any music/few movies/no usb to charge phone and my phone was dying. From Paris, it was a A380 so the entertainment system was much better but the service was underwhelming, a lot of people asked for cup noodles during mid flight and my dad was one of them, the cabin crew was clearly annoyed so she just told him in a rude manner that no more (but soon, another lady nearby asked for it and another cabin crew took it out for her). However this time, my journey to/from dxb was great, I LOVE LOVE THE B777-300 entertainment system, it's fully touchscreen with a psp-like touchscreen control for games and the cabin crew are all really nice. (& the food was pretty good too but my only complain is that........... when i was coming back to sg from dxb IT WAS SO HOT I WAS SWEATING, the air con was off i think and the women beside me was fanning herself while sleeping HAHAAH so it was not only me that's feeling warm)
^ my nails
DAY 2 (because i consider the plane ride day 1 :-))- BIG BUS CITY TOUR DAY 1
^ dxb is the place with the most number of fines, u can be fine for eating/drinking in the car even as a passenger?????? but it's definitely the safest and richest country i've ever been to, if i live there with my current live savings.............. i will starve by week 3.
^ souk madinat
^ overpriced chinese/malaysian/singaporean food for lunch @ palm Jumeirah. (it was the cheapest food there) bubble tea is known as bobba tea there and my dad decided to try one AND IT'S $12 SGD for too-sweet mango smoothie with soggy pearls. i bought this hongkong egg noodle thing (because it's the cheapest at around $14sgd but i didn't know that it's just plain noodles with soya sauce HAHAHAH) the egg was given to me from my dad who thinks that my lunch is v sad.
^ ya i know i look fat here
^ used big bus tour (hop on hop off bus with open top) and it was a great experience because the open top felt so good and it was legit the best way to see the city
^ the famous Jumeirah Beach, when i went there i was so confused because it looked like an ordinary beach with nothing else nearby (except the famous dubai 7 star hotel) so i was wondering if i was at the wrong place lol
^ carls jr for dinner because they had this corden blu wrap which sounded and looked yum but was )-: (the fries was good though)
^ burj khalifa which i was way too cheapskate to go up cause it was $55 sgd per person for non peakk timings (peak the price even scarier) so i decided it wasn't worth because the airplane can take me to a higher spot than the tallest building in the world :-)
DAY 2- BIG BUS TOUR 2 & DESRT SUNSET TOUR
^ dubai museam which my parents were clearly not interested in because they just wanted to get out of there lolol
^ dubai creek boat ride which my dad fell asleep
^ i was so excited to try some butter chicken there because I LOVE THE 7-11 one and the one from this holland village cafe so i thought dubai should have nicer ones but........ bleh. It was around $20sgd at the food court and tasted so bad )': (or maybe i just can't appreciate real butter chicken and prefer microwavable version HAHAHHA)
^ desert sunset tour (comes free with the big bus tour). honestly, i regret being cheapskate and going for the free one BECAUSE THE PAID ONE LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER WITH SO MUCH MORE ACTIVITIES TO DO LIKE SAND BOARDING ZZZZZ this one only had henna, camel ride for 3 min and watching the sunset (but it was free so i shouldn't complain so much ah.......)
DAY 3- MOTIONGATE DUBAI+GLOBAL VILLAGE
^ if u ever wonder why i look diff during the trip, it isnt because i edited the photos lol the photos here 98% aren't edited cause i am way too lazy so it's because i was wearing falsies on 4/7 days of the trip and it's my first time wearing those and i am pleasantly surprised on how different i look with and without the falsies
^ so i went motiongate dubai theme park (aka lionsgate/dreamworks/columbia pictures/smurf theme park) when it just open for less than a week so i was expecting loads of ppl there but IT WAS SO EMPTY. they were having a sale price because they said SOME of the rides aren't open yet but........ by some they meant HALF lol it was a waste of money even though it's a discounted price (it's still $80++sgd after discount), there was only a good ride which is the green lantern roller coaster which i took twice cause legit nothing else to do there
^ global village initially wasn't in the itenary i wrote but since the desert tour moved to day 2, i decided to add in this place since we had 1/4 of the day left AND IT WAS THE BEST DECISION I MADE THAT WEEK. that was my fav place in dubai, it's like a old school amusement park/arcade with mini versions of a lot of diff country's landmark with shops and food from those country. i only had 4 hours there so didn't get to explore everything....... IT WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN MOTIONGATE (although im sure motiongate will be great next time once they open everything cause there's hunger games/kung fu panda etc rides) BUT THE ENTRANCE TICKET TO THIS PLACE WAS ONLY $5sgd... i think. (all the amusement/arcade cost separately but it's worth cuz the prizes there are all huge and looks so good but it's all so big that there's no way i could have brought it back :-))
DAY 4- BURJ KHALIFA.....FROM FAR+FACTORY OUTLET MALL
^ ya from far
^ so everything in the normal malls are crazy expensive (i can't even afford h&m there lol) so i only bought a few things there....... i bought 4 pieces of clothing/2 shoes (including this nike air which i think it's for guys but i have a big feet and i dont really care even if it's for guys because i will still wear it since i like it) AND FOOD (mostly for other people not myself). the factory outlet was honestly not worth going.... it's out of the city and yes i did found some stuff that are cheap (this pair of shoes was around $120sgd i think, bought a nike oversized pullover for $18sgd and a mango blouse for $12sgd) but still the taxis there aren't cheap and this factory outlet is out of the city center so it was not worth travelling all the way there. (but in case anyone wants/plan/is going there soon.... they have free shuttle bus to several hotels but the spaces are limited and timings r limited too)
DAY 6- ABU DHABI TOUR (FERARRI WORLD!!)
^ had to completely cover myself so had to use this scarf to cover my head
^ Sheikh Zayed Mosque
^ lunch at YAS mall and abu dhabi is a much cheaper place to eat than dubai zzz had a 2 course meal at a very pretty looking restaurant for $16 sgd (a salad/main dish/drinks) AND IT WAS SO GOOD
^ ferarri world was initially not in my itenary too lol cause i read reviews that it isn't worth going there but I LOVED IT THERE. i took the world's fastest roller coaster (ya la i know i said it a lot of times) but i am v proud of myself since i'm the kind of person that went USS more than 10 times but never had the courage to take the blue/red roller coaster HAHAHAH (i am more scared of rounds/loops and turnings than speed tbh so i rather take the ferarri world roller coaster 10 times than the USS red/blue) but it was still a scary experience, i felt my heart telling me i'm not going to make it till the end cause it was so fast and it's also at least 3/4 levels high
^ korean food there was actually good lol. my mum bought japchae AND IT WAS EVEN BETTER THAN SOME OF THOSE I ATE IN SG. it's from mall of emirates (i stayed in hotel ibis mall of emirates so i visited the mall at least 6 times since it's the nearest) food court and the japchae was around $12 sgd which is even cheaper than some places in sg.
DAY 7- DUBAI MALL
^ passed by cheesecake factory 3 times in USA but never tried it cause $$$$$$$$$$ so this time my dad said that let's try it for once and IT WAS SO GOOD. i ordered this pasta with fried chicken (the actual name very complicated) and it was so good (mine's the lunch portion which is smaller but it was more than enough for 2 people lol). cheesecake factory is ex because there's like ard 200 things in the menu to choose from and there's like more than 30 flavours (the berry one was good mmmm) and the portion is HUGE, so if u ever visit somewhere with cheesecake factory, order 3 plated for 4 people. my family of 4 ordered 2 cheesecake, 2 fulls size dishes and 2 mini size dishes and it way too much for us (and my dad and bro have a huge appetite). another good meal i had but didn't take a pic is shake-shack, i saw it a few times on the internet so i was curious to try it.... it's famous for their beef burgers but i don't eat beef so i tried the chicken one and it was yumm (kinda like how i hope mcchicken will taste like) and my brother loved the beef one, their fries was yumz too. (although it will probably be the priciest fast food i will ever have but it was worth it :'))
^ home-bound <3 dubai was amazing, the weather there was perfect........... it was sunny BUT i didn't sweat at all because it was so windy with temperature of around 19 degrees. it's definitely way over expectations (in a good and bad way), but it's worth visiting once (ya once is enough HAHAH), BUT IF ANYONE CHOOSE TO VISIT THERE ON THEIR OWN PLS FOLLOW THIS:
DAY 1- BIG BUS TOUR (TAKE THE MARINE+BEACH LINE)
DAY 2- MOTIONGATE/IMG WORLD DUBAI + DESERT SAFARI TOUR (ya it's diff from the one i took)
DAY 3- SHOP AT MALLS OUT OF THE CITY CAUSE IT'S MUCH CHEAPER + GLOBAL VILLAGE
DAY 4- ABU DHABI FERARRI WORLD
DAY 5- ABU DHABI CITY TOUR + SHOP
^ aka this is what i would do if i ever go back there (maybe 30 years later when i finally have enough savings to visit such an expensive place), dubai is honestly very small (i think it's only slightly bigger than sg so 3 days is more than enough to explore the city) AND FOR HOTEL, i stayed in mall of emirates hotel ibis cause it was cheap and i think it's a great place to stay because the service staff are very nice and although the room is tiny and dark but it's comfortable and clean. (it's less than $100/night so it's great considering the price because the location is good too)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------so this time, my brother took my dslr along and thus i got many candid shots but im too lazy to put them in order so here they are >
^ ok la this one fake candid i admit HAHAHAH
<3
from here on...... it's from my phone idk why isit not in order like the rest but im too lazy to arrange it HAHAHA
^ my mum looks great here she looks younger than me lol
^ here's me falling asleep cause the boat ride v long
^ ya i know can see my pimples
^ i did eyebrow embroidery in case anyone is wondering why my eyebrows suddenly have a shape HAHAAH (it was expensive ah but hopefully it's worth and stays for a long time.... i did permanent inner eyeliner too and my eyes was swollen for 2 days after that)
^ using my kat von d lipstick that i can't use in sg cause it's wayyyy to bright and red so i only dare to wear when im overseas
^ i still got bangs now but i don't dare to leave it down most of the time because i will breakout (aka my acnes will grow on my forhead) if i leave it down so i try to keep it up
^ if you're wondering why im wearing a tutu dress with grid lol, it's because i couldn't find a occasion to wear that dress in sg and i wore the grid over cause it's lace and a bit exposed (and dubai malls and all have a dress code) so i wore a grid outerwear to cover up a bit. (i saw some kpop star wearing like that before so i tried HAHAHAH)
----------------------- anyways if u read all that i've typed, thank you for wasting ur time once again HAHAHAH bless everyone for 2017 <3
Thanks, good read :)
